Madonna drops her album Confessions II on July 3.
Bilt decided this calls for a massive marketing stunt. It’s their annual Rent Day on June 1 and they are leaning hard into the Queen of Pop.
Here’s the play: Bilt will pay an entire month’s rent for The Music Building at 584 Eighth Ave in NYC. Madonna was one of its first tenants. A nice gesture? Sure. But let’s get to what matters.
The points transfer bonus.
They’re boosting transfers to TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go into the stratosphere. The tiers stack like this:
- Blue: 25% bonus
- Silver: 50%
- Gold: 75%
- Platinum: 100%
Still not crazy? Spend $150 in Bilt Cash. Add another 25% to the pot.
Now we’re talking. A Platinum member hits the cap of 125% on 100k Bilt Points. You get 225k TAP miles in return.
Why does this matter? Because TAP is a Star Alliance carrier. It’s not just for Portuguese holidays.
It’s actually kind of a hack.
TAP switched to flexible redemption for its own flights. Meaning? Award seats between the U.S. andEurope are usually open. Often cheaper than using United or Air France miles. And here is the kicker—you need actual TAP miles for this. You can’t burn United miles on a TAP award seat.
Flights in mainland Portugal? Starting at 3,250 points.
Intra-Europe? 7,500.
Sweet.
I’m personally skipping it. I hoard Bilt Points because their partner roster is too good to ignore otherwise. Bilt gives you the big three alliances plus the outliers like Emirates, Southwest, and Hilton. Why bleed into a niche partner when I have options?
But you. Maybe you should do the math.
Consider the Bilt cards themselves.
On May 1 (one month before the transfer event) there were double points on everything non-rent related. Up to 1k bonus points. The Bilt Obsidian gets 6x on dining or groceries (whichever you picked), 4x on travel, and 2x elsewhere. The Bilt Palladium? Solid 4x on the grid.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
I earn between 2 and 3.3x on my Palladium for normal stuff.
If you transfer those points during the 125% event, your effective earning rate skyrockets. We are looking at 4x to 8x per dollar spent. Everywhere. Even if the miles go to Portugal.
Who knew paying for dinner in San Francisco could buy you a ticket to Lisbon for pennies?
Madonna is also doing a “Rent Free” game show. Members play to win up to $2,505 off their lease. There are album parties in NYC, LA, and Chicago on launch day—redeem points for entry.
Oh. And if you’re in Manhattan on June 1?
Head to 837 Washington St. There’s a food truck outside the HQ handing out Chicken and Paneer Kati rolls with mango lassi.
Free food. Points. Celebrity drama.
It’s a lot for a credit card promotion. But someone’s gotta keep the economy moving.
